Starting Monday March 8th, the ALCF introduces Big Run Mondays. Each Monday,
capability jobs---those requesting partitions of 8K nodes or larger---will be
given absolute precedence to run first before smaller jobs are scheduled.
All capability jobs queued before 8:00 am Central time will be moved to the top
of the queue. On Mondays with scheduled maintenance, the first capability jobs
will start running immediately after maintenance. On Mondays without
maintenance, the first of the capability jobs will start running no later than
8:00 pm. Keep in mind that if there are more capability jobs than fit on the
machine at once, some will follow each other sequentially, but still with
absolute precedence over smaller jobs.
Please take this into consideration in your research plans. If you need any
assistance in scaling or organizing your calculations to make use of partitions
of 8K nodes or more, please contact your Catalyst or otherwise approach ALCF staff.
Note that 8K nodes means 32K cores, or 8 racks.
