[intrepid-notify] Special Downtime Scheduled for Jan 31

Dear Users,

Intrepid and Eureka are scheduled for an off-cycle special downtime at the end 
of this month, in addition to the normal biweekly maintenance cycle.

Maintenance starts: Monday, January 31st at 12:00p, US Central Time
Maintenance ends: Tuesday, February 1st at 1:00a, US Central Time

During this maintenance period, ALCF will switch the system clocks to Universal 
Coordinated Time (UTC).  After February 1st, subsequent system downtime 
announcements will be given in UTC.  In addition, users can expect over the next 
two to three months for several system tools, including the scheduler, to honor 
a local preferred timezone.  In effect, users may set their locale such that 
reservations and other information pertaining to system operations will be 
displayed in the user's preferred local timezone (eg, US/Pacific) while logged 
into a login node.  We will provide further updates on what users may expect as 
we near the change to UTC.

Also:

- there will be no access to the login nodes
- no jobs will be run on the system.

Mail will be sent when the work has been completed and the machines are again 
available for general use. Please send any comments or questions to
