*** Please Respond to the User Satisfaction Survey ***
You should have received an email earlier this week containing a link to the 2011 ALCF User Satisfaction survey. Please take 15 minutes to provide feedback that will help us shape our future programs and resources. Respond by February 24 and you can elect to be entered in a drawing for one of three new Kindle Touches. We appreciate your valuable input, and thank you in advance, for your time. 

*** Maintenance Monday: February 6 ***
Systems will have regularly scheduled maintenance beginning 15:00 UTC on Monday, February 6. Maintenance is expected to end at 23:30 UTC on Monday, February 6 for Surveyor and Gadzooks, and at 00:30 UTC on Tuesday, February 7 for Intrepid, Challenger and Eureka. During maintenance, no jobs will run, there may be disruptions in filesystem access and you will not have access to the login nodes. We will send a message to the notify lists when maintenance has concluded. Please direct any questions to support at alcf.anl.gov

*** Leave Some "Padding" When Queuing Jobs in a Reservation ***
When queuing jobs in a reservation, please remember to leave 10 minutes of padding or your job will not run. For instance, for a three-hour reservation, the longest job you should queue is 2 hrs. 50 min. See http://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/reservations for more information. 

*** IBM XL Compilers C/C++ 9.00.0000.0013 and Fortran 11.01.0000.0013 Available for Testing, Become Default Feb. 6 ***
The default XL compiler version is currently the August 2011 release. The default will be changed to the December release (@ibm-compilers-dec2011) on February 6. Please test your code with the new version. See http://www.alcf.anl.gov/faq-page/how-do-i-select-xl-compiler-versions for instructions on setting your compiler version.

*** 2012 ALCC Call for Proposals Closes February 14 ***
The ASCR Leadership Computing Challenge (ALCC) allocates up to 30 percent of the computational resources at the DOE Leadership Computing Facilities. Accepted projects are directly related to the DOE's energy mission, national emergency, or for broadening the community of researchers capable of using leadership computing resources. Awards are based on a peer review for scientific merit and computational readiness. Proposals are due by February 14, 2012.
