*** Enter a Drawing to Win a Kindle Touch: Respond to the User Satisfaction Survey ***
By now, you should have received an email containing a link to the ALCF's 2011 User Satisfaction survey. Please take 15 minutes to provide your feedback that will help shape our future programs and resources to best meet your needs. Respond by February 24 for a chance to win one of three new Kindle Touches. We appreciate your valuable input, and thank you in advance, for your time. Please email support at alcf.anl.gov if you were an ALCF user in 2011 and you did not receive a survey notification.

*** Ready for the Blue Gene/Q? Allocations of System Time in 2013 (Including the Blue Gene/Q) Available through INCITE ***
Sixty percent of the ALCF's system hours go to INCITE awardees. The open call for 2013 INCITE awards is April 11-June 27, 2012. To be eligible for an INCITE award, your project must demonstrate a high-impact science goal, plus computational readiness and the need for leadership-class supercomputing resources. To help you meet INCITE's computational readiness requirement, consider requesting a Director's Discretionary allocation at the ALCF. Visit http://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/how-get-allocation for more information. To expedite your request, please be sure to specify your Director's Discretionary allocation will be used for INCITE proposal preparation.

*** Maintenance Monday: February 20 for Intrepid, Challenger and Eureka Only ***
Surveyor and Gadzooks will not have maintenance this Monday. Intrepid, Challenger and Eureka will undergo regular maintenance beginning at 15:00 UTC on Monday, February 20, with an expected end time of 0:100 UTC on Tuesday, February 21. During maintenance, no jobs will run, there may be disruptions in filesystem access and you will not have access to the login nodes. We will send a message to the notify lists when maintenance has concluded. Please direct any questions to support at alcf.anl.gov

*** Script Jobs and Exit Statuses ***
When you run a script mode job through Cobalt, it will receive the exit status of the last program to run in the script. As a result, a line like "echo Done." at the end of a script will cause the script to return 0 as the exit staus, causing Cobalt to see the job as exiting successfully even if the cobalt-mpirun within the script terminated with an error. To avoid this, check, and possibly save, the exit status of cobalt-mpirun if it is used in a script. Visit http://www.alcf.anl.gov/faq-page/how-do-i-run-jobs-bgp for additional information.
