Beginning users, join us for Day 1, an ALCF primer that covers all the basics you need to know to get started on our systems. Then, stay for Days 2-4 where you'll be joined by users of all levels for a dynamic workshop that will cover timely topics of interest to all users. For more information and to register, visit: http://workshops.alcf.anl.gov/gswjanuary12/. Please note that due to time requirements necessary for processing additional paperwork, we can no longer accept registration requests made by foreign nationals.

*** IBM XL Compilers C/C++ 9.00.0000.0013 and Fortran 11.01.0000.0013 Available for Testing ***
The default XL compiler version is currently the August 2011 release. The default will be changed to the December release (@ibm-compilers-dec2011) on February 6. Please test your code with the new version. See http://www.alcf.anl.gov/faq-page/how-do-i-select-xl-compiler-versions for instructions on setting your compiler version.

*** Intrepid and Challenger Users: /home Directories Now Read-Only ***
As of January 9, Intrepid and Challenger /home directories are read-only on the I/O nodes. When you need to write, please do so only to intrepid-fs0 and intrepid-fs1. For details on ALCF data storage policies, visit: http://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/data-policy

*** Intrepid Users: /intrepid-fs0 filesystem Space Needed ***
The /intrepid-fs0 filesystem is dangerously full. To prevent a possible system-wide delay in job scheduling or running, please delete data you no longer need. If you have data that you don't need online, but that you are not ready to delete permanently, you may transfer it to tape before deleting it from /intrepid-fs0. See http://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/data-archive-hpss for information.
