*** Call for Papers: CiSE Special Issue on Leadership Computing ***
A special issue of IEEE Computing in Science & Engineering (CiSE) magazine guest edited by Mike Papka and Jim Hack will explore how leadership computing is being used effectively to support real-world science and engineering applications. Paper submissions are being sought from a wide range of leadership computing users. Topics of interest include: algorithmic and application formulations, programming models and systems, runtime systems and middleware, end-to-end application workflows, and experiences with real applications. This special issue of CiSE magazine will be published in September/October 2014. The paper submission deadline is January 3, 2014. Visit www.computer.org/cise for more information. CiSE magazine is co-published by the IEEE Computer Society and the American Institute of Physics, and features the latest computational science and engineering research.

*** Get Faster Throughput with prod-short, prod-capability Job Queues ***
Mira and Intrepid users, if you have a small job (4096 nodes or fewer) that is long, consider breaking it up into a series of two or more shorter jobs each depending on the prior job. Small jobs that are short (six hours or less) are eligible to run in more areas of the machine than small jobs that are long, (more than six hours), and will get through the queue faster. Mira users, see http://www.alcf.anl.gov/user-guides/job-scheduling-policy-bgq-systems for job information. Intrepid users, visit: http://www.alcf.anl.gov/user-guides/job-scheduling-policy-bgp-systems for details. Please contact support at alcf.anl.gov with any questions.
