I assume that each open source community (such as DCMF) should strive to
be independent and define it's own release boundaries? IBM would snapshot
a community release branch to bundle with the BGP drivers (such as
V1R2M0). Right now the IBM build is using the "master" branch for DCMF.
In a few months we would need to make a branch based on master that
IBM+community would stabilize for inclusion in the final V1R2M0 build.

The current MPICH2 code in the DCMF community source code repository is
version "1.0.4p1 + dcmf" ... long term, we (the DCMF community) should
make an effort to contribute the MPICH2 code back to the MPICH2 community.

Yesterday, the GA/ARMCI code was contributed back to PNNL to be
incorporated into a future release of the Global Arrays Toolkit. Once the
official PNNL version of GA/ARMCI supports DCMF it may be possible to
remove the GA/ARMCI code from the DCMF source code base. This GA/ARMCI
code was termed a "reference implementation".

Good question Kaz, we need to get versioning into each piece of
software.

Another question: Back in the days of working out the Open Source
plan, there were pieces of code that were "reference drops" and IBM
had no intention of taking back mods, and there were packages that IBM
intended to to do open development, and allow the community to submit
changes. We probably need to start working out the Wiki info about
the nature of each of the two current packages (DCMF and BG-Linux).
