[intrepid-notify] Monday maintenance reminder for October 27, 2008

The Intrepid system will have its regularly scheduled Monday maintenance
period this coming week.

Maintenance starts:  9:00 a.m. US CDT on Monday, October 27, 2008
Expected end:  5:00 p.m. US CDT on Monday, October 27, 2008

During this time:

- no jobs will be run on the system
- there may be disruptions in filesystem access
- there may be disruptions in network access to the login nodes.

During this window, changes will be made to the user environment:

- electrical system maintenance
- eFix 18 installation to correct certain circumstances in which the
  system would allocate resources which were not free
- Cobalt maintenance
    - patch to address cobalt-mpirun bug
    - installation of utility function to improve scheduling of
      "prod-devel" queue
    - installation of job submission filters to enforce valid
      allocations (for more information, see Oct. 23, 2008, e-mail from
      Jonathon Anderson).

Mail will be sent when the work has been completed and the machines are
again available for general use.  Please send any comments or questions
