[intrepid-notify] Monday Maintenance reminder for September 15, 2008

The Intrepid system will have its regularly scheduled Monday maintenance
period this coming week.

Maintenance starts:  9:00 a.m. US CDT on Monday, September 15, 2008
Expected end:  5:00 p.m. US CDT on Monday, September 15, 2008

During this time:

- no jobs will be run on the system
- there may be disruptions in filesystem access
- there may be disruptions in network access to the login nodes.

During this window, changes will be made to the user environment:

- Network maintenance

- An eFix for the BG/P communication libraries will be installed.  A
  recompile is required to take advantage of the fixes, but is not
  required otherwise.  Important changes:
    - The default setting for scatterv-via-bcast optimization has
      changed.  Previously, it was on by default; now you must
      explicitly request is by setting DCMF_SCATTERV=B.
    - The problem of using less than an entire partition in dual mode,
      i.e., booting a midplane and using -np 512, has been partially
      addressed.  It will still fail when using an odd number of cores.
      Using an even number of cores and TXYZ layout will work.
