Intrepid has been returned to normal service. We reverted the home file system to its state when maintenance started at 2200 UTC (5:00 PM local) on Sunday, October 2nd and have begun restoring any files that were touched since then. The following are important points:

 - we have scanned the home directory of all users who ran jobs or logged on since 2200 UTC on Sunday October 2nd and copied any files showing changes since then to a directory named restore_20111004. This should be the vast majority of changed files.

 - If you have a directory named restore_20111004 under your home directory, you should examine the files that are there and determine what to do with them. They will have the complete directory structure. So, for instance if the file ~/foo/bar had changed, you would find ~/restore_20111004/foo/bar. If this file is needed, you can move it to your home directory i.e, mv ~/restore20111004/foo/bar ~/foo/bar. Note that you need to create any intermediate directories if they don't exist. If you don't need it, simply delete it.

 - We will continue scanning looking for other files that might have changed. If we find them, they will be written to a different restore directory. I.e., we will not write any additional files to the restore20111004 directory. You will be notified individually by email if we restore additional files to your home directory.

 - If you identify files that have not been restored, please send mail to support at alcf.anl.gov and provide the path names you need restored.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience.
