*** Leap to Petascale is Coming! May 22-25 ***
Mark your calendars and plan to attend Leap to Petascale: Making the Move to Mira. This workshop is geared especially for current INCITE and discretionary projects that have already scaled to multiple racks of Intrepid. With the arrival of Mira, the ALCF’s 10-petaflops Blue Gene/Q, this year’s workshop will focus on issues of scaling to the next-gen system. The workshop is also timed to coincide with efforts of teams preparing to submit 2013 INCITE proposals. A significant portion of workshop time will be devoted to hands-on tuning of applications with one-on-one assistance from our performance engineers and computational scientists. Special system reservations will provide the opportunity for full-scale runs. Please watch for registration information coming soon.

*** Reminder: Intrepid and Challenger /home Directories Mounted Read-Only on I/O Nodes ***
Please remember that, as of earlier this year, Intrepid and Challenger /home directories are mounted read-only on the I/O nodes. When you need to write, please do so only to intrepid-fs0 and intrepid-fs1. For details on ALCF data storage policies, please visit: http://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/data-policy

*** System Maintenance: Monday, March 19 ***
Regularly scheduled preventive maintenance periods begin Monday. Details follow. We will send a message to the notify lists when maintenance has concluded. Please contact support at alcf.anl.gov with any questions.

* For Intrepid, Challenger, and Eureka: Maintenance starts 14:00 UTC Monday, expected end 02:00 UTC Tuesday. During maintenance, there will be no access to the login nodes and no jobs will be run on the system.

* For Surveyor and Gadzooks: Maintenance starts 14:00 Monday, expected end 22:00 UTC Monday. During maintenance, there will be access to the login nodes, however, no jobs will be run on the system, there may be disruptions to filesystem access and to network access to login nodes.

*** Ready for the Mira? System Allocations Available through INCITE ***
The open call for 2013 INCITE awards is April 11-June 27, 2012. To be eligible for an INCITE award, your project must demonstrate a high-impact science goal, plus computational readiness and the need for leadership-class supercomputing resources. To find out more about INCITE, register for an informational webinar https://www.alcf.anl.gov/incite2013

*** Disabling Access to /gpfs1 (or /intrepid-fs0/gpfs1-migration) March 19 ***
The ALCF will disable access to /gpfs1 (or /intrepid-fs0/gpfs1-migration) on March 19, 2012. Users who modified or created files under /gpfs1 within the last 30 days have been contacted directly. Please see "2011-2012 Intrepid Storage Changes" at https://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/bgp-file-systems for more information.

*** Register Now for ScicomP 2012 ***
