*** Leap to Petascale is Coming! May 22-25 ***
Mark your calendars and plan to attend Leap to Petascale: Making the Move to Mira. This workshop is geared especially for current INCITE and discretionary projects that have already scaled to multiple racks of Intrepid. With the arrival of Mira, the ALCF’s 10-petaflops Blue Gene/Q, this year’s workshop will focus on issues of scaling to the next-gen system. The workshop is also timed to coincide with efforts of teams preparing to submit 2013 INCITE proposals. A significant portion of workshop time will be devoted to hands-on tuning of applications with one-on-one assistance from our performance engineers and computational scientists. Special system reservations will provide the opportunity for full-scale runs. Please watch for registration information coming soon.

*** Congratulations to Our Winners! ***
Thank you to all who shared their opinions with us via the annual user survey last month. Your comments will guide improvements to the ALCF to enhance your experience as a user. Congratulations to the following three users whose names were drawn from the list of individuals who completed the survey: Ken-ichi Nomura, Torsten Hoefler, and Yi He. We hope each of you will enjoy your new Kindle Touch.

*** Ready for the Mira? System Allocations Available through INCITE ***
The open call for 2013 INCITE awards is April 11-June 27, 2012. To be eligible for an INCITE award, your project must demonstrate a high-impact science goal, plus computational readiness and the need for leadership-class supercomputing resources. To find out more about INCITE, register for an informational webinar https://www.alcf.anl.gov/incite2013

*** Allinea DDT Updates Available ***
Allinea DDT has been updated to version 3.1-21691 and is now the default via the "+ddt" soft key. This update improves single-stepping performance in many cases. Please see http://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/allinea-ddt for additional information on using DDT. A new research version of DDT is also available which greatly improves debugging in VN mode and at large scale. Please contact support at alcf.anl.gov if you are interested in trying this version. We would be happy to assist you.

*** Access to /gpfs1 (or /intrepid-fs0/gpfs1-migration) Disabled ***
Access to /gpfs1 (or /intrepid-fs0/gpfs1-migration) has been disabled as of March 20, 2012. Users who modified or created files under /gpfs1 within the last 30 days were contacted directly. Please see "2011-2012 Intrepid Storage Changes" at https://www.alcf.anl.gov/resource-guides/bgp-file-systems for more information.

*** Register Now for ScicomP 2012 ***
ScicomP, the 18th Annual Meeting of the IBM High Performance Scientific Computing User Group, will be held in Toronto, Canada May 14-18, 2012. Abstract submissions are due April 2. Early registration and conference hotel room block both end April 12, so register soon.
