[dcmf] RE: [MPICH2 Req #3926] Open source release of the BGP changes to MPICH2

The code we have in MPICH2 is currently labeled "CPL", but we have
permission to change that. It will be different in the patch.

Unfortunately, we do change code in the MPICH2 distribution. I've spent
time removing a lot of our pointless changes, but there are certainly
still quite a number of changes that we need. I think it'll take a while
to sort through the changes to be sure that you like them all. Still,
some of them are specific to our project. Hopefully you will be able to
quickly pull out the simple parts for 1.0.7, and then we can work together
to clean up most of the remaining parts.

Thanks,

Also, will the license terms on the code you are contributing be similar
to the existing MPICH2 license so that we can redistribute it with MPICH2?
If we need to go through any process for that, it will take time. So far,
with 1 or 2 exceptions, we have been accepting patches on an informal
basis, so we don't have a contributor's license agreement in place.

Would you prefer a patch to enable BlueGene (DCMF) support based on
1.0.7rc1, and then release version 1.0.7rc2, followed by release 1.0.7 ?
Or do you prefer a patch based on 1.0.7 to be included in a future release
(perhaps 1.0.7p1, or 1.0.8) ?
